"Jack Fruit" can weigh around 40 pounds and obtain the size of a watermelon. Some say is it quite delicious when properly ripened.

While stopped for lunch at the equator in western Uganda between Kampala and Mbarara, this tree overhang some tourist gift shops. The tree appeared to be dead, but was hanging full of weaverbird nests. The high-pitched chirps of the bright golden birds filled the air.
A very interesting scientific demonstration. The yellow bowl had a drain hole in the bottom. The expert would pour water into the bowl while plugging the hole from underneath with his finger. Then, using his other hand and arm, he would prove the water is not spinning. Then he would drop a blade of grass on the surface of the water and remove his finger from the hole underneath. The blade of grass would clearly show the movement of the water. This was first done a few feet on the north side of the equator line, demonstrating how the water spins in a certain direction there. Then this was demonstrated a few feet on the south side of the equator line, showing spin in the opposite direction. Finally, this was demonstrated right on the equator line - and the blade of grass was sucked straight down the hole with no spin at all. The expert claimed that things actually weigh less right on the equator as well.
The raised line is the actual equator. Posing left to right in front: Steve Snyder, Nigel Harding, Shaye Hobby. Posing left to right in rear: Gary and Patsy Hall, Shane Slaughter, Jennifer and Dan Webb, Pastor Robin Cox.

We were told these very large birds are called "Maribu storks". We were also told these birds are nicknamed "the undertakers of Africa" because they will eat almost ANYTHING. In cities they are commonly seen on rooftops. In more rural settings, they are commonly seen on top of very tall trees.
The Mbarara Sunday evening crusade met on a grassy vacant lot in urban Mbarara. The worship leaders sang and danced as a crowd of hundreds gathered.
The gathering crowd of hundreds participate in the worship being led by the Holy Spirit Fire Church worship leaders, prior to the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
At the Sunday evening crusade in urban Mbarara, Steve Snyder poses with a young girl. This young girl instantly attached herself to Steve and stayed with him during the entire crusade that evening. Pastor Silas later explained that this young girl is in fact his own daughter. Pastor Silas also explained that his daughter, in spite of her youth, (about eight years old), is a prophetess - and things that she speaks actually happen. In background: Shane Slaughter and Shaye Hobby.
Pastor Robin Cox preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ at the Sunday evening crusade in Mbarara. The message included old covenant command for physical circumcision of the body and the new covenant command for spiritual circumcision of the heart. Interpreter: "Peter".
At the Mbarara Sunday evening crusade, after the preaching of the word, 35 people (mostly adults) came forward, indicating that they had just prayed for the first time to receive Jesus Christ as their personal LORD and SAVIOR. Here, Pastor Willy, Senior Pastor of Holy Spirit Fire Church, Mbarara, gathers the new believers together and prays a blessing over them and councils them.

Front left to rear left side of bus: Gary and Patsy Hall, Dan and Jennifer Webb, interpreter Peter and worship leader Kemigisha, Shaye Hobby. Right front to right rear of bus: Pastor Robin Cox, Shane Slaughter, and Steve Snyder. The bus was driven every day by expert driver "Simon". Simon and Fred are both from Kampala, Uganda. Simon was a muslim and had many opportunities to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and experience the love of Christ from each team member. We love Simon - pray for him!
The evening of Monday, May 3, 2004 was spent in a guest house owned by the tea plantation. We had hoped to spend all our nights there, but company executives needed those nights. So we spent the remainder of the week lodging at the Park House Hotel in Ishaka, about 30 minutes drive from Mashonga. This photo plus the following six were taken at the Tea Plantation Guess House. The Guest House was on top of a hill, adorned by shade trees and ornamental plants, and surrounded by tea fields and a backdrop of beautiful mountains. We got settled into our rooms, rested, enjoyed a snack of hot, roasted ground nuts (exactly like peanuts) and tea and coffee, then got on the bus and went down to the crusade in town. The area where we did the crusades and the teaching seminars was actually not "Mashonga proper", but rather it was a small settlement on the outskirts of what is really considered to be "Mashonga".

During the Tuesday evening crusade in Mashonga, Steve Snyder poses with a new believer. Steve had been with a group witnessing in the streets that morning. This man had prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his personal LORD and SAVIOR this morning. This man recognized Steve from that group and came forward to thank Steve and asked if we could take his picture with Steve. Later on Thursday morning, Steve and Dan Webb were witnessing with worship leader "Joy" as their interpreter. They met this man again. The man explained that he is a tailor. The man allowed us to witness to his adult daughter, who subsequently prayed to receive Jesus Christ as her personal LORD and SAVIOR as well.
Before the Wednesday evening crusade in Mashonga, the mission team stopped by Juliet's shop to bless her by purchasing a large number of her items. This is a close-up shot of the crusade poster. These were posted in front of Juliet's shop, and were also posted all over town and all around the surrounding villages and towns.
The poster reads as follows: "MASHONGA INTERNATIONAL CRUSADE & SEMINARS: God has given you an opportunity not to be missed! Come and hear the good news of Jesus Christ from International Speakers. Pastor Nigel Harding: Missionary Ventures East Africa. Pastor Willy Tumwine: Holy Spirit Fire Church. Pastor Gary Hall: USA. Pastor Patsy Hall: USA. Pastor Robin Cox: International Evangelist. VENUE: Mashonga Trading Centre. DATE: Mon. 3rd - Sun. 9th 2004. SEMINARS: 9:00AM - 12:30PM. CRUSADE: 4:00PM - 7:00PM. Come and get more from Jesus. Your life will not be the same. Rescue to Perishing"
This is Juliet and her baby. Her unsaved husband was recently beheaded by his unsaved brothers in an inheritance dispute. Juliet had been praying that God would send someone to Mashonga to preach the good news and establish a church of true believers there. That prayer has now been answered. Prior to the Wednesday evening crusade, the mission team stopped by Juliet's shop to bless her by purchasing a large number of items from her shop. The colorful background of this web site is made from a bolt of fabric purchased from Juliet's shop at the time this photo was taken. Juliet also asked for prayer for her own two unsaved brothers. During the week, one of those two brothers received Christ, and the other heard the word of Christ and may have received as well.

At the Thursday morning teaching seminar in Mashonga, Jennifer Webb teaches fundaments of intercessory prayer through the story of Esther in the bible. The crowd roared with laughter at one point as Jennifer was telling how Haman was humiliated by leading his enemy Mordecaii's horse on a procession through the kingdom.

At the Thursday evening crusade in Mashonga, Patsy Hall preaches. Patsy was preceeded by two powerful testimonies: One from Pastor Innocent who, before he surrendered to Jesus Christ, had endulged in sexual sins and had contracted gonorreah, siphilus, and other sexually transmitted diseases - and was HIV positive. As he was dying, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and was healed of all his diseases and became HIV negative as was given a new name - "Innocent". Another man gave a testimony of being healed of insanity. He was from Mashonga, and traveled back to Mashonga from Kampala to give his testimony. The interpreter shown here is Pastor Reuben Muhumuza of Revival Harvest Ev. Church, Ishaka.
At the Thursday evening crusade in Mashonga, Pastor Willy Tumwine, Senior Pastor of Holy Spirit Fire Church, Mbarara, gives personal testimony of his life before Jesus and how Christ has changed his life. Pastor Willy's father had remarried and Pastor Willy was forced to leave home at age 12 by his new step mother. They didn't want to pay for his schooling. He lived on the streets and became a hardened criminal. He was in street gangs, was involved with illegal drugs, was a pick pocket, and had been imprisoned in every prison in the Kampala area. He had been beaten by the police so fiercly that he bled all over. He said that Jesus Christ personally came and spoke directly to him and told him to repent. Jesus told him he must repent or he would die soon. Pastor Willy did not know how to repent, so he began to look for a church where someone could tell him how to repent. He found a church and repented and received Jesus Christ has his personal LORD and SAVIOR. Then he became a preacher. Photo 1 of 2

Jennifer Webb poses for photo in hotel room at Park House Hotel in Ishaka, Uganda.
While most rooms at the Park House Hotel in Ishaka had western-style toilets, Dan and Jennifer Webb were "blessed" with the experience of a "non-western-style" toilet. Fortunately, Dan had brought along his own portable western-style fixture to augment. Dan also decorated window with toilet paper for privacy.

Monday, God told Priscilla Carreno to pray against lighting for our team - as she flew to Orlando from Thailand mission trip. Friday noon, Dan Webb had colorful dream of team being "soaked to the bone" in cold, dark, windy storm at crusade platform. Dan forgot dream. En route, team saw dark clouds and prayed against rain. Dan remembered dream but did nt share. Here, worship leaders drew crowd of hundreds before storm hit. Pastor Willy spoke and prayed publicly against the rain. The rain and hail came and the entire crowd left. Leaders stayed out in rain and prayed. Everything happened exactly as in Dan's dream. Jennifer Webb asked God when rain would stop. God answered: Six O'clock. Rain stopped at 6PM. No lightning strikes. Crowd returned. Gospel preached - 60 more saved. Praise the Lord! (Mukama asiimwe!)

Pastor Willy and Pastor Caleb stand in rain and hail and pray against storm. Pastor Willy explained later that muslims hire witchdoctors to send rain and lightning strikes against Christians and he was sure this was their doing.
The mission team also prayed in the rain. Shown here: Shane Slaughter, (and unknown Ugandan), Pastor Robin Cox, and Gary Hall.
The storm stopped at 6:00pm as the LORD told Jennifer Webb it would. The worship leaders came back and the crowd came back. Pastor Robin Cox preached the word from the book of Daniel in the bible - where God forced King Nebuchadnezzar to walk on four legs, eating grass for seven years so that he would repent, and how God blessed King Nebuchadnezzar with a double blessing after he repented. 60 people came forward, indicating that they had prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their personal LORD and SAVIOR for the first time. Dan Webb and Pastor Silas baptize an elderly lady. Later it was reported that this lady had been suffering from pain all over her body, but the pain instantly stopped the moment she was baptized. Other reports: Several with chronic head pain were instantly healed during the baptisms. Several with irrational fear and anxiety were instantly released from that during the baptisms. It was also reported that one person removed witchcraft fetishes and threw them away when being baptized.
Pastor Willy returns elderly lady's walking stick.
Baptisms continue!
Shane Slaughter decided he would love to be baptized in Africa. He explained and made arrangements for this in advance. Pastor Willy explained to the crowd about Shane's decision.

Pastor Robin Cox, Bus Administrator "Fred", and Pastor Reuben Muhumuza pray with four more to receive Jesus Christ as their personal LORD and SAVIOR - after the baptisms. Gary Hall also preached and led six more "onlookers" to the LORD after the baptisms. As Pastor Robin Cox would say: "GREAT!!!"

With clothes still wet from the baptisms, Dan Webb poses with Pastor Silas and Jennifer Webb, just before the Soul Winning Seminar begins.
After the baptisms, Pastor Robin Cox taught the first half of the On Purpose Soul Winning Seminar. Pastor Robin asked this young lady named "Ruth" (about age 12) to come forward and help him demonstrate his technique. As part of the demonstration, Pastor Robin asked Ruth the "Big Question": "If you were to die today, and stand alone before God in judgment, and God were to ask you, 'Why should I let you come into my heaven' - How would you answer God's question?" Ruth had no answer and prayed to repent and give her life to the lordship of Jesus Christ right there on the spot!
After the baptisms, still in wet clothes, Dan Webb taught the second half of the On Purpose Soul Winning Seminar. Immediately afterwards, a fellowship lunch was served to the entire crowd.

Gary Hall taught on faith and the baptism of the Holy Spirit at this first-ever Sunday morning service of Holy Spirit Fire Church, Mashonga. As shown here, these otherwise very quiet and reserved people prayed and cried out to God with passion and fervor as they prayed to recieve the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
During this church-planting, first-ever Sunday morning service, Pastor Innocent received a suprize gift: A special variety of cow called a "Fresian". These are European and have double the milk-producing capability of the local cows. This cow also was carrying an unborn calf and an added bonus! This will help sustain Pastor Innocent as he endeavors to establish himself in this community as the pastor of a newly-planted church.
This is the meeting place of the Holy Spirit Fire Church, Mbarara. Sunday morning services were just letting out as we arrived to drop off some passengers, including Pastor Silas. This is a theatre where locals come to watch European soccer. The church has outgrown this and is raising funds to purchase their own land.
While stopped at Holy Spirit Fire Church, Mbarara to let off passengers, Jennifer made a new friend. She very much wanted her picture taken with Jennifer.

Photo taken through front windshield of the bus: This small motorcycle was carrying two men and a live, tied up hog. The hog must have weighed about 200 pounds! The hog continued wiggling as they went down the road. Typical small village trading center in background.
Ever heard of "the greased pig at the county fair"? This HOG TIED ROAD HOG is the original "GREASY RIDER"! No motorcycle can truly be called a "hog" like this one!

Any good at yodeling? This is a photo of the "Alps" mountain range taken from the airplane window. You can see very large snow-covered mountains rising above the clouds. This is probably in Italy or France.
After arriving at Heathrow airport in England, we took a bus to a little town called Horley, near Gatwick. This is the side view of the English guest house we stayed at in Horley. We left the next morning for the Gatwick airport and flew direct to Orlando, Florida, USA. Jennifer Webb poses in front of her hotel room.
