MOTIVATION

Hebrews 4:13 People do many things for many reasons. We want to make sure that you not only know WHAT we are doing, but WHY we are doing it. So here we lay bare before you and God our motives for being involved in this or any mission trip. Beloved, we have a burning desire to see lost souls saved from an eternal hell and brought into God’s glorious light as His beloved children. Here’s some perspective: Scientists today are estimating that today’s live world population is greater than the sum of all the people who have ever lived and died since the beginning of time. Wow! The earth is bursting forth with a great tidal wave of humanity! Yet, it has been estimated that only one in ten today have repented and received the free gift of eternal life that Jesus Christ died to give them. It has been estimated that now 300,000 people die every day. That could represent a potential of 270,000 lost souls pouring into hell every day – that’s over eleven thousand per hour – THIS hour, right now as you are reading this. We simply cannot imagine anything more compelling or more urgent than the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ! For us, it’s a matter of eternal life or eternal death! So what shall be done? According to 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” But, when shall it be done? According to 2 Corinthians 6:2 "… now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation." But who is going to do it? Our answer is found in Isaiah 6:8: “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’” God instructed his reluctant servant Jonah to preach the word in Nineveh – a city of over one million people. Listen to what God said in Jonah 4:11 about the children who lived in that wicked city: “And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left." Regardless of age, everyone is somebody’s child. We have three young children of our own – who we love dearly. Sometimes we imagine the lost people living even in our own neighborhood – young and old alike - as our own children – our babies. What a tragedy it would be for our own precious children to end up in eternal torment – as Revelation 14:11 says, “And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night,” In name of the Love of Jesus Christ, may God use us to proclaim his truth to ALL! Our heart’s cry is, “Yes Lord! Send me! I will go!” One of our team members, Pastor Robin Cox, recently preached on 2 Timothy 4:2 from the Amplified Bible: (emphasis added) 2 Timothy 4:2 (AMP) "I charge you in the presence of God and of Jesus Christ, who is to judge the living and the dead and in the light of his coming and His Kingdom, herald and preach the word! Keep your sense of urgency, stand by, be at hand and ready whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable, whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome. You as a preacher of the word are to show people in what ways their lives are wrong. And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching." Yes Lord! Send me! I will go! |
